Panasonic DMC-FX12 Digital Camera
Hi,
I’ll be talking about the features of the Panasonic DMC-FX12 digital camera, but also about it’s minuses and faults.
Front view
Here is a snapshot of the live model. My girlfriend bought this camera today and I thought I should make my first online review.
First of all, this is a 7.2MP 2.5” CCD sensor crumbed into a very tight package, of course, it’s a girls camera, and it looks lovely. The outer design of it it’s very nice. It’s all black with little insertions of chrome at the lenses and buttons, as you can see.
Aside from the 7.2MP resolution, the camera features 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. I wouldn’t recommend the usage of zoom on any unprofessional digital camera because it shrinks the overall quality of the photograph. Even 1x of zoom can cause detectable noise on the picture taken. This camera, however, does the job pretty well, at 3x optical zoom, the noise is perceptible but it doesn’t bother much.
A thing I just love about this camera is the 2.5” TFT screen. It has 115KP and a viewing angle of almost 100%. The one minus of this screen is that when taking pictures at high resolution (over 1.3MP), when viewing the taken picture it shows a disturbing amount of noise. I almost talked my girlfriend into not buying it. However, the pictures look amazing on the laptop.
This gadget also features a small, aprox. 27MB internal memory. This is easily expandable with a SDHC memory card (pictures + video) or Multimedia card (only pictures) up to 4GB. With the built in memory, we we’re able to take 9 pictures at maximum resolution.
Let’s talk a bit about the connectivity options of this camera. It features an high speed USB2.0 port and a TV-out composite port that outputs video and audio in NTSC or PAL. You can choose from the menu the output standard of the TV-out port.
About the packaging and the accessories that came with the camera. The camera comes with anything you need, except the memory card, of course. It comes with USB cable, TV-out cable, battery charger + charger cable, a hand strap, manuals in 5 languages and a 2 year warranty. It only weighs 125g without the battery and memory card in it and only 153g with them mounted in. The dimensions are aprox. 94.1mm (L) x 51.4mm(H) x 24.2mm(I).
Well, after only a day of usage, I think that it’s a pretty nice camera. It does the job very well taking beautiful pictures. I recommend it because it’s nicely designed, it’s offers pretty high performance for a $130 camera. Below are pictures taken to show all sides of the camera.
